Amader Gram has been organized fifth knowledge fair (Gyaan Mela) at Shreefoltola High School Field, Rampal, Bagerhat on 27- 28 January 2010. The knowledge fair has created that scope by creating an opportunity to exchange of knowledge and information among rural and urban areas. The fair was arranged in the tradition of our folk fairs. Local schools, government and non-government organizations have stalls in an open field. Nagordola, luscious local food and other such popular items of rural and folk fairs are available here. Women exhibit traditional rural crafts. Some competitions were arranged for local students, such as chess, carom, math, debating, extempore, general knowledge or cultural issues. Bangladesh Telecentre Network participated with different types of knowledge and information products on agriculture, health, education, disaster management, awareness, law & human rights in CDs, VCDs, Books, Leaflet, Manual, Booklets etc. BTN also demonstrated the various kinds of Telecentres Model. Stall of Local handicrafts, local sweets, cakes, Chorki and patriotic songs were there. Members of BTN; BIID and Sundarban IT Access Centre had also stalls about their activities. Rupantar presented a cultural show thorough Potgaan. Antor Bazao and Rangdhonu local cultural activities group performed. Local people gathered at large during the Gyaan Mela and cultural show. Chess & Carom competition, Math contest and Art competition were organized for students and local youths. Amader Gram organized some Parallel Workshops; 1. How to develop a local level online Exam system 2. What Information Service we want? Local Teachers Samity also organized a seminar titled on ‘Science Education in Schools - Problems & Suggestions Rampal School Teachers will take part in discussions & provide inputs'. At this great occasion, BTN also launched the new web portals 1. www.byabsharkhobor.com, 2. www.msme.com.bd for the local micro, small and middle entrepreneurs' development of business and market linkage. Talukdar Abdul Khaleque, Honorable Mayor, Khulna City Corporation was the chief guest of the inauguration of Knowledge Fair, 2010 while Professor Molla Abdur Rouf, Upzila Chairman, Rampal was the special guest at the occasion. Mr. Mahmudul Haque, Professor, Institute of Fine Arts, Dhaka University made welcome speech. Mr. Swapan Guha, Chief Executive, Rupantar, Ananya Raihan, Executive Director, D.Net, Mr. Hemayet Hossain, Upazilla Nirbahi Officer made speeches as the special guests. Mr. Shahiduddin Akbar, Secretary General attended the knowledge fair on behalf of Bangladesh Telecentre Network. Mostafa Jabbar moderated inauguration session.
