Yesterday all servers in the U.S. went out on strike in a bid to get more RAM and better CPUs. A spokes person said that the need for better RAM was due to some fool increasing the front-side bus speed. In future, buses will be told to slow down in residential motherboards.
Bangladesh Telecentre Network is pleased to announce the First National Telecentre Colloquium 2008 which will be held during November 7-8, 2008, Rural Development Academy (RDA), Bogra, Bangladesh. This event will be a gathering of around 200 telecentre practitioners across the country and main focus will be given to understand the existing challenges in telecentre operation and way out to overcome those challenges. Detail procedure for nominating participant will be given to BTN members shortly.

visited the secretariat of Bangladesh Telecentre Network (BTN) on August 18,
2008. The objective of this visit was to share his views with BTN members and
at the same time trying to explore new avenue for the widespread implementation
of the NComputing technology to roll out telecentres.
Bangladesh Telecentre Network (BTN) and Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on July 12, 2008 at BTN office with the vision to ensure widespread implementation of open source software in all telecentres across the country.
Mr. Ananya Raihan, Secretary General, BTN and Mr. Munir Hasan, Secretary General, BdOSN signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. Mr. Raihan said, "It is a unique scope for us to work with BdOSN. Due to this collaboration all BTN members now enjoy the opportunity to choose propitiatory software and open source software according to their needs. We also concerned about piracy and in this regard open source software implementation is a worthwhile decision to reduce piracy".

(BTN) organized a knowledge sharing session on August 4, 2008 at BTN
secretariat, where BTN member organizations and representatives from different
media participated to share their views regarding the current telecentre
movement in Bangladesh
and give feedbacks to BTN to enrich its operation.
The members' meeting of Bangladesh Telecentre Network (BTN) was held at BTN office on July 8, 2008. The objective of this meeting was to share BTN's present activities with the members and know their opinion to determine BTN's future steps.

Government of Bangladesh has formed a National Information and Technology (ICT) Policy review committee in order to upgrade the National ICT Policy that was adopted in 2002. This committee comprises representatives from different segments of the society such as university, BTRC, BTTB, Science and ICT Ministry, Education Ministry, Commerce Ministry, Ministry of Industries, Chief Advisor's Office, Bangladesh Bank, BASIS, BCS, ISPAB, BTN and BCC. As a part of the committee BTN is honored to provide its support to achieve a long term sustainable National ICT Policy. This is the first time BTN is involved in such national policy formulation. Government formally invited BTN Chairperson in this committeee.
